I think I'm tired of all the restaurants around here now

Maybe I'm in a slump. As mentioned elsewhere here, we eat out a lot. And we've been to almost every restaurant in Flower Mound at least a dozen times, or at least that's how it feels. Christinas, Alfornos, the new Dickeys, Red Hot & Blue, Pazzo and many other favorites. We haven't been to the new pizza joint in front of Lowes, but I think that's all we're missing from having our Flower Mound restaurant bingo card blacked out.

But now I'm totally in a slump. Nothing sounds good any more. What can we get in here that's new? I see the signs going up for this new hamburger joint being built next to Cicis and Chilis at FM2499 and FM3040. Promising. But beyond that, there seems little on the horizon.

Reporter's encounter with Congressman Burgess

I like Congressman Burgess, except I was stunned to see him genuflect so in the wake of Tom DeLay's announcement he would no longer seek a leadership position in the House.

I like the News Connection. In its own spunky way, and despite the fact that it deseparately needs a good copy editor, the paper takes stands, and tries to make good change in the community.

What I liked this week was seeing a blurb posted on D Magazine's always-worth-reading Frontburner blog that gives props to News Connection reporter Stephen Webster and his recollection of a recent interview opportunity he had with the Congressman.

This is very entertaining reading. I'd love to hear the Congressman's reply.

FM3040 opening quietly

It's been a quiet few weeks along FM3040. Didn't they have all the pavement down well before Christmas? So why did it take so long for them to open more than 1 lane in each direction? Finally now they've got at least two of the three lanes on each side open, which is already helping traffic at the busy intersections with FM2499 and Morriss Road.

You'd think the town would have a big celebration. I know the neighbors along Forest Vista will be thrilled to lose some of that overflow traffic.

The only bad thing about finishing FM3040 is the realization that the expansion of FM2499 (starting with south of FM3040, where I live) is next on the list. Another fun mess to look forward to.
