Another What If ... The Library and Parker Square
So far my previous "What If" posts (here and here) have not spurred the debate I had hoped for, but I'll try it again tonight.
A few years ago, before the Town built our grand new library on Churchill Drive and while Parker Square was on the drawing board, developer Cole McDowell offered the Town of Flower Mound a spot in Parker Square for the new library. The Town listened, but eventually declined and opted instead for the current stand-alone facility we enjoy now.
But what if the library had been built at Parker Square? Would that have helped Flower Mound's premier retail development become more of a magnet here in Town?

No, the library needs to be centrally located and it is in its present location.
Two issues with PS:
1) it is not more centrally located in FM. Heck it's basically in lewisville.
2) Needs an anchor store or two - such as barns and noble.
What are they building at PS? The only thing which would be good is office space...and not the executive suite w/o executive suite amenities for 3x what they charge in downtown Dallas. (Well, that was 2 years ago)
Please tell me it is not another dentist park...
Oh NO! I don't want my WONDERFUL library neighboring with high-priced boutique stores!! The library is located in the best spot! And what a great library it is!
I don't like the parking situation at Parker Square and I'm glad the library isn't there. PS is not centrally located and I can count the number of times I've shopped there on one hand. The Town made the right decision with the library. This summer I noticed for the first time the library parking lot was overflowing onto the surrounding streets and businesses on one of the summer activities days. Wow!
I like the library right where it is. It's a nice little walk, but oh so worth it when I get there. I like the neighborhood atmosphere. As far as Parker Square, what about bringing a farmers market there in the summers? Lewisville's seems to be doing very well.

I agree with Susan who wanted a farmer's market at Parker Square. That would make me go on a Saturday morning.
