My new favorite Chinese food restaurant
We eat a lot of Chinese food here in Flower Mound. Our regular rotation consists mostly of takeout - either from Beijing Wok on FM2499 or from Panda Express on FM3040. My son's favorite restaurant in all of Flower Mound is the buffet at China Palace, across from Sprouts. But I'm only lukewarm on eating there. It's expensive for dinner, and I don't eat all the fancy stuff they offer (sushi and such).
Tonight, my son was playing at a friend's house and not with us. My wife and I wanted Chinese, but not at any of the regular haunts. We revisited a place we had been to once, but for some reason, she didn't like. We ate at Empress of China, next to the Tom Thumb on FM407 at Morriss. I remembered liking it before, and this time I absolutely loved it. I'm a big curry lover, and they did Canton Curry Chicken just perfectly, with just enough of the powerful spice to let you know it's there. My wife enjoyed her orange chicken too.
Empress of China is wonderfully decorated, very modern and stylish inside with some cool lighting. It's not a huge restaurant, but there's room for 100 or more. As Joe Bob Briggs used to say, check it out!

Chinese - not much experience in the area here. We have tried Beijing Wok and a few of the other places around town, but I have been turned off of the whole buffet scene by a few bad experiences in the Phoenix area. Not here, I know, but the bad taste in the mind is enough to prevent another attempt.
Our main Chinese meal for the year is New Year's Eve. Many years ago we stumbled upon the idea that we could stage a sumptious feast that night for a greatly reduced price by ordering a huge takeout at lunchtime (at lunch prices) and then preparing our own buffet for dinner. It was an overwhelming success and we have tried to carry on here in Flower Mound. We haven't found a place we consider the stalwart yet but will try out some of your suggestions.
One restaurant I would like to plug is not Chinese but is still Asian. The Noodle Swing in the Kroger complex at 1171 & 2499 has been a delightful find for us. We found Thai Tango to be a bit overdone and were looking for a good place for Emerald Curry and Satay. Noodle Swing looks almost like just another ice cream shop or chicken wing setup from the outside, but once you step through the doors you find it is quite different. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is great (especially those dishes I mentioned, along with the Golden Triangles - fried tofu), and the staff and service are superb. We have spoken to the owners on a couple of occasions (sorry - forget their names) and they have always been gracious. Dining at this jewel is an experience we hope to repeat often. I just hope that enough people can find it tucked away in its corner, and I hope that when they do they will find it as nice as we do.
Asian food is my favorite, however NO buffet for ME! Definitely Noodle Swing, or Empress of China for me!
Need more chinese food Flower Mound, so I will eat my vegetables!
