My school's rating down

Did you see the new TEA school ratings? Our little neighborhood school, the venerable Old Settlers Elementary dropped to Recognized -- this is the first year, I believe, OSE has not been Exemplary. An article in yesterday's Leader blames the OSE drop on declining math and science scores. All the neighboring elementaries are still Exemplary. Hmmm.

Interesting that Marcus is saying that its drop is due to a "coding error". I would like more details on that, I'm not sure how a coding error would effect one school and not others.

I'm so sick of the school ratings and state-mandated testing crap!

The coding error could have been made at the site. When I was a teacher, and we had the TAAS, the counselor was responsible for turning in all the tests. Each teacher had to fill out forms (with a number 2 pencil!) and then turn them in to the counselor. A coding error could have been made on that end. I remember how diligent we had to be inputting codes for kids. And if you had a new student (started after the official first day of school), then their scantron answer sheets were blank and we had to hand-bubble lots of information on each.
