What's a Prince Bistro?

Good question, perhaps you know the answer. Here's what I know:

The Town's P&Z case log shows an application for a new "Prince Bistro" restaurant that wants to open shop in the Pines of Flower Mound restaurant. I believe they're looking at the very prominent front-corner of that center, right at the SW corner of FM3040 and Morriss. There's a fountain right next to one of the front outbuildings, which sound like a perfect place for an outdoor patio adjacent to an indoor dining area.

I don't think there are any Prince Bistro restaurants in operation. But a quick Google search turned up this Craigslist ad for the company which is looking for restaurant managers for this new "casual American restaurant". Further searching turned up this site for the parent company, Prince and Associates and this page with a reference to their new Prince Bistro project (scroll to the bottom).

I overheard that the broker for the Pines is hoping to have the center full in just a few months. LePeep is still going in to another space there. It's taking a couple months longer than usual, I hear, to get businesses through the permitting stages, due to the rush of applications across Town.

Has anyone been to the sushi restaurant at The Pines? Sushi's not my thing, but perhaps someone else can opine about this new restaurant.

As a three month resident of The Pines, it's nice to see the facility filling up. I can also vouch for the delays in permitting. It took us over a month longer than expected to open our doors. We've also heard there is a Mexican restaurant coming along with a pet boarding / daycare facility in the SW corner. My wife & I own Hair Diddle Diddle & are excited about the additional traffic for The Pines!

I tried to visit the sushi resturant at the Pines last Friday and ended up leaving before I ordered. When I walked in, the only waitress and the manager/owner/person in charge type were talking to a table of 4, it seemed like the person in charge was doing most of the talking. The person in charge then came and sat me and the waitress came over. Unfortunetly, the waitress' English was very poor. I asked a question about one of the menu items and the only response, even though I asked the question 3 times was to point me to the picture. She then brought the person in charge over and I asked him the question, it was basically whether I could substitute an item on the lunch special. I was told No, that was too expensive. I was only asking to substitute salmon for tuna, so, I offered to pay the price difference. I was told no, there could be no substitutions. So, I thanked them and left.

I went over to Edohana Sushi, on 2499, near Anamia's. The service couldn't have been more different. The waitress was friendly and accomodating and the owner came by twice to ask how things were. At the end of the meal, he came and asked for a critique, as this was the first week of serving this lunch special. He made notes of my comments and then gave me a coupon for my next visit. I eat sushi about twice a month and its nice to be able to eat good sushi close to home, I feel like I really only have 1 choice in resturants, but it was such a great experience that this is ok with me!

Prince Bistro has signs up on the space in between LePeep and the Martial Arts studio. UCR hasn't updated their flyer on the property in a while, however the building next the fountain could be Pollo Salsa Restaurant according to the P&Z case logs. Just what FM needs.. another Mexican restaurant.

Nice blog... I lived in FM for 11 years, and now live Frisco. They're putting in a Price Bistro in the shopping center just down the street from my house (Eldorado and FM 423, in far Northwest Frisco). The sign is already up. As soon as they open I'll visit and give you my take on things there.

I work in Plano and there is a Prince Bistro near the corner of Spring Creek and K Ave. The food is great and the atmosphere is awesome. I highly recomend the wings and pizza.

I've been to Mikado's (the sushi place) several times & LOVE it! Occassionally the waitress does have trouble understanding me, but we've gotten thru to each other every time. One time we were there (the day before Mother's Day) & received a free mini cucumber/crab salad to try, a free sushi, & a free chocolate orange for dessert. My advice - if you're going in for sushi - sit at the sushi bar!!!

I went to the Pricnce Bistro with my family a couple of weeks ago, we had been at the balloon festival in Plano. It was $27 for my wife, my two year old and myself. The restaurant was classy enough, but the food we got was mediocre at best. For a sampler a sandwich and a kids meal I would demand better. Their "homemade bistro chips" were soggy, and the sandwich was the same you can get from Arby's or Jack-in-the-Box. The sampler was really not very good either. I won't be going back there again. Id rather spend a litle more, tip the waitstaff and have good food.

I would not recommend Mikado for the same reason other poster said about service. I was there for lunch one day with maybe one more couple in the entire place and the service was horrible. I had to continue to ask for refills and the few times we have gone, the rice is not very good. Has anyone tried Asahi on 1171?

The Prince Bistro on Flower Mound Road is awful! The food is terrible and there is no service at all! I had the Ruben Sandwich. I could have made it better from leftovers I have in my own kitchen! My wife had the Bacon Cheese Chips. They were soggy and had no taste at all. I've gotten better at the Friday night football games! We shop at the Krogers in that plaza everyday. We will never go to Prince Bistro again and hopefully all of my friends that I tell this nightmare too will stay clear of PRINCE BISTRO!

the above comment was the opposite of what I experienced. Yesterday I had the Rueben and sweet potatoe fries and it was all excellent. The atmosphere is really great and the food was excellent. I usually give a place 2 chances...everyone has a bad day and perhaps this diner tried the Bistro on an off day?. I am sorry the comment above reactss so sharply to a first experience. Oh well.

People need to give these places a chance. We went to Prince Bistro a couple of weeks ago, and while it was obvious they were getting things broken in a bit, the food was pretty good. Our chips weren't soggy, and made for a great appetizer. The sandwiches were good, and everything tasted fresh. The atmoshphere was nice for a counter service type of restaurant. The patio was nice and big with a good view, and flat screen TV's to watch the game on. We've lived in FM for 11 years, so it's nice to finally be getting some places close to home. Anyone expecting a restaurant not to have some hiccups initially is dining there with unrealistic expectations. Unless they are completely inept, unsanitary, or rude, they deserve a second chance.

I agree. Give PB a second chance. I have been there several times and while the food isn't knock your socks off good, it is above average and the manager is a great host. I may just go there tonight. Thanks for the idea.
