Fortune-telling at Magic Mikes

I've written before on these pages how Magic Mikes gas-station-slash-corner-monopoly on FM2499 at Grapevine Mills is a great predictor of where retail gas prices are going. Even when prices are going down.

Late Friday, I noticed MM's had dropped their prices by 15 cents, from $2.94 to $2.79, while everyone in Flower Mound seemed to be between $2.89 and $2.99. It was a big enough shock, and a good enough story, that we did a "falling gas prices" story from Magic Mike's on our Good Day Saturday newscast yesterday.

Sure enough, the other stations around town are dropping prices now. Unless something wacky happens on the gas futures/wholesale markets in the next few days, I hope we'll be paying less for gas for a bit.
