Surprise - it's Baris - 80 miles west of Flower Mound

Sunday afternoon we were hopping along Hwy 180 on our way to Possum Kingdom Lake when all of a sudden we saw the familiar Bari's logo on a sign alongside the road. Bari's? Our Bari's? Way the heck out here Bari's?



Turns out we were looking for somewhere to eat, and hey we like Bari's in Flower Mound, and it looked like the only decent place in town to eat. So we went in. Food was great. Service was terrific.

So how did Bari's get all the way out here. I met the woman who was running the store. She says a nephew of the owner of the original Bari's in Flower Mound opened this restaurant where he wanted to live. There are apparently 8 or 9 other Bari's around the state - in places like Austin and Pflugerville, Denton and Flower Mound. The Bari's in Mineral Wells is the only one in the group that's owned by a relative of the original Bari's owner. Even the original restaurant in Flower Mound is managed by someone not related to the family. (The founder of Bari's, I'm told, is retired from day-to-day operations.)

Anyway, it was interesting to run into a familiar restaurant out in the country. Perhaps one of you knows more about Bari's family and can comment about it here.
